TMR Joysticks with 12-bit ADC Sampling
The Ultimate 2 is 8BitDo’s first controller equipped with TMR joysticks. Tunnel Magnetoresistance sensing provides precise magnetic stick detection while reducing the physical wear associated with traditional potentiometer-based analog sticks.
The joysticks are paired with a 12-bit ADC sampling chip, providing fine analog input resolution for accurate aiming, movement and small stick adjustments.
Hall Effect Triggers with Mode Switching
The Ultimate 2 combines linear Hall Effect triggers with a physical trigger mode switch.
In linear mode, the triggers provide full analog travel for games such as racing titles where progressive acceleration and braking are important. Players can also switch to a non-linear tactile mode for faster, more immediate trigger actuation in FPS and action games.
1000Hz Polling Rate
The controller supports a 1000Hz polling rate in both 2.4GHz wireless and wired modes, allowing inputs to be reported at short intervals for responsive gameplay.
8BitDo specifies this polling performance under its ideal laboratory testing conditions.
8Speed Wireless Technology
8BitDo’s proprietary 8Speed wireless system is designed for stable, low-latency 2.4GHz performance.
Under ideal laboratory conditions, 8BitDo rates 8Speed at latency as low as 1ms with a wireless range of up to approximately 10 meters, while also incorporating anti-interference technology for reliable connectivity.
Four Additional Programmable Controls
The Ultimate 2 provides four additional controls beyond the standard gamepad layout:
R4 Fast Bumper
L4 Fast Bumper
PL Rear Paddle
PR Rear Paddle
The R4 and L4 bumpers can be remapped directly from the controller without requiring software. The rear controls provide additional command options while helping players keep their thumbs on the analog sticks.
Refined Tactile D-Pad & Bumpers
8BitDo recalibrated the D-pad and shoulder bumpers to provide a light, clicky and tactile response while maintaining smooth operation.
This provides more defined feedback for directional inputs and shoulder-button actions across fighting, platform, action and retro-style games.
Customizable 6-Axis Motion Control
The Ultimate 2 supports 6-axis motion control in 2.4GHz mode.
Motion sensitivity can be customized through 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2, providing additional control options for compatible games and applications.
RGB Fire Ring Lighting
RGB lighting surrounds both joysticks with 8BitDo’s Fire Ring system.
Available lighting effects include:
Light-Tracing Mode
Fire Ring Mode
Rainbow Ring Mode
Lighting Off
Brightness, color and supported effect speeds can also be adjusted.
Integrated Charging Dock
The included charging dock provides a dedicated place to store and recharge the controller between gaming sessions.
The controller automatically reconnects when removed from the dock. The 2.4GHz adapter can also be stored inside the dock, and connecting the dock to a Windows PC via USB can extend the wireless signal placement.
1000mAh Rechargeable Battery
The Ultimate 2 contains a built-in 1000mAh rechargeable lithium battery.
8BitDo rates the controller for approximately:
25 hours via Bluetooth
20 hours via 2.4GHz wireless
4 hours charging time
Actual runtime can vary according to vibration, RGB lighting, connection mode and usage conditions.
8BitDo Ultimate Software V2
Through 8BitDo Ultimate Software V2, users can customize:
Button Mapping
Joystick Sensitivity
Trigger Range
Vibration Strength
RGB Lighting
Motion Control
Macros
Custom Profiles
Firmware Updates
Three custom profiles can be stored and switched using the controller’s dedicated profile control.
